Utah Demographics

Utah is a state in USA located in the western United States. Utah is the 45th state admitted to the union on January 4th 1896. The name "Utah" is derived from the Ute Indian language, meaning "people of the mountains". The state is widely popular for its geological diversity that ranges from snowcapped mountains, well watered river valleys, stony deserts and certain other things. The state is also famous for being one of the most religiously homogenous states in the union.



The most polluted place in Utah is the Utah County in the city of Lehi. According to the census report of year 2005 Utah has a population of about 2,469,585. The immigrant population in the state also increased the population of about 49,995 people. Much of the Utah people have migrated from the state and live in the nearby cities and towns of the Wasatch Front which is a metropolitan region that runs from north to south along with the Wasatch Mountains that rises on the eastern side. The rest of the Utah region is either completely rural or wilder. Utah includes a massive population of higher percentage of people all sharing same religion.




There are almost five metropolitan areas in entire Utah including the Logan, Ogden-Clearfield, Salt Lake City, Provo-Orem, and St. George and 5 micropolitan areas including the Heber, Vernal, Brigham City, Price, and Cedar City. The modern St. George metropolitan area is the fastest growing region in Las Vegas while the Heber micropolitan area is the second fastest growing region in the country.

The people living in Utah are called as the Utahns and most of them are of North European descent. The state includes the largest population of people with British and Danish origin.
