Salt Lake City , is the capital of the state of Utah . With some of the finest skiing grounds and tranquil lakes it is indeed one of the finest cities in the world. With a population of 181,743 people this city is the most populated city in the state of USA . A group of Mormon Pioneers led by Brigham Young founded the city in 1847.Shoshone, Ute, and Paiute tribes were the original inhabitants of the city, before Brigham Young came to Salt Lake City .


Today the city occupies a total land area of 110.4 square miles. Surrounded by the Great Salt Lake ,marshlands and mudflats the city has some of the best hot springs and lakes of the region. Jordon river which flows through the city acts as the main drainage system of Utah .
